One of the saddest things to watch is a new horse lover buy a horse that they cannot handle. It boils down to breeds and training. So training aside, what are the best breeds of horses for beginners to even start to consider? Here are the top 3 breeds of horses for beginners that are popular.

1. Paint
These colorful horses can in a variety of temperaments. They are smart horses, but wanting to please their owners. They are athletic but not a hot, fast horse. The best part is that they are versatile, and can be ridden in many disciplines with little problems.

2. Quarter Horse
While these guys are strong, they can be good for beginners if they have a more laid back temperament. The slower they are, the more gentle they usually are.

3. Arabian
These guys are not the biggest breed, but they are agile and athletic. Often, they have wonderful attitudes and love their owners just as much as owners love them. Traditionally, they come from the desert where the Bedouin tribes slept with them inside their tents as well!
