What Does Your Horse's Coat Say?

There is something about shining hair. Everybody loves it! Everybody wants it. Owners work hard to get their horse looking a certain way. It takes a lot of elbow grease with the regular grooming every day. However, there is more to it than that.

It's about nutrition and giving your horse adequate vitamins and minerals. Even the horse's protein content in feed is vital for a perfect looking coat. Just make sure to balance your horse's diet and offer plenty of fresh water.

Another important factor is to make sure that your horse gets adequate exercise. The biggest con here is to make sure that the sweat is cleaned off. It is detrimental to a shiny, healthy coat.

The problem with an unthrifty horse can be numerous, but here is the low down on trying to make sure that the horse is dewormed. Parasites can effect the horse's health and make the coat appear dull.

And last of all is how much time the horse is out in the sun. Sunlight can damage and fade a coat, making it appear dull and even changing the color.

So while you are brushing your horse, watch for any issues and deal with them right away. Keep your horse clean and happy. With a little extra care, you can help your horse get that shining coat that everyone longs for.
